Cops find capsized raft in river
Whatever it was floating down the Des Plaines River on Friday morning sure didn't look right to maintenance workers at the Riverside Golf Club. The workers called police to report what looked to be two completely duct-taped residential garbage bins floating south through the golf club property before they got hung up on debris at the 26th Street bridge.

Alleged drug dealer arrested in Riverside
Riverside police and officers from the West Suburban Directed Gang Enforcement task force arrested four people last week who they say have been involved in the sale of marijuana in Riverside and to Riverside-Brookfield High School students in particular.

A Brookfield man was charged with mob action and battery, while two other men face mob action charges after they allegedly attacked a 16-year-old boy near Eight Corners on Aug. 18 just before 3:30 p.m.

A man accused of passing bad checks at two Riverside businesses on Aug. 9 is in Stephenson County Jail after police in Freeport charged him with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Cops: Man entered home, kissed girl

Brookfield police charged a 36-year-old Dallas, Texas, man with criminal trespass to a residence and battery after he allegedly entered a home in the 4300 block of Maple Avenue at about 4 a.m. on Aug. 5 and began kissing an 11-year-old girl who was asleep in an upstairs bedroom.

Second man guilty of hitting cyclist
Just a week after his friend pleaded guilty to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated driving under influence, Chicago resident Erik Fabian, 20, pleaded guilty to the same charges on June 22 and received two years' probation and 130 hours of community service for intentionally driving a car into a bicyclist on May 2009 in Brookfield.
